Tata completes TGN-EA submarine cable system
Tata Communications (NYSE: TCL) has put the final touch on its Tata Global Network-Eurasia (TGN-EA) cable, a new submarine system that extends from Europe to India, through Egypt, with the ability to direct capacity to the Middle East and other global locations.
By building out the final link across Egypt, Tata can offer carrier and business customers access to what it says is a wholly-owned express route from Europe to India.
The TGN-EA cable complements the service provider's recently completed Tata Global Network-Gulf (TGN-Gulf) cable system, a network that connects Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia to Mumbai, India and the rest of the world via the Tata Global Network (TGN).
In conjunction with the company's recently launched Tata Global Network-Gulf (TGN-Gulf) cable system, which connects Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia to Mumbai, India and onwards to the rest of the world via the Tata Global Network (TGN), these routes will cater to the increasing demand for voice, video and data services in and out of the Gulf region.
Vinod Kumar, managing director and CEO of Tata Communications, said that what sets apart the new TGN-EA cable is that "unlike traditional networks which only link cable landing stations, the round-the-world ring offers city-to-city connections, which are more cost-effective, flexible and provides a faster time to market delivery, as well as being easier to maintain and manage."
