Rugged Dual Mode Handheld Visual Fault Locator

GAO Fiber Optics is offering its rugged handheld visual fault locator which is used for troubleshooting of both single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables. It is suitable for fiber optic network maintenance in telecommunications and CATV systems.

This rugged handheld visual fault locator, model C0280002, features a compact size, a universal connector and accurate measurement. It detects breaks and micro-bends through jacketed fiber and performs end-to-end fiber identification. This VFL is able to examine all kinds of patch cords, ribbons or bunched pigtails in the installation and maintenance of fiber optic networks. It can also be used for locating break points which an OTDR would not find.

This fault locator offers wavelengths from 640 to 660 nm. It is compatible with optical connectors including FC and Universal 2.5 mm adaptors. Its measurement range is up to 5 km. Its spectral width is less than 5 nm. In addition, it boasts an operating time of 30 hours with a single battery charge.

This rugged visual fault locator belongs to GAO’s family of Visual Fault Locators. This line includes a variety of visual fault locators such as Handheld Visible Laser Source which is used to find fiber faults and is suitable for single mode and multi mode fiber and Pen-style Optical Visual Fault Locator which is a basic tool for the maintenance of fiber optic networks, optical systems including LAN, FDDI and ATM, telecommunications and CATV networks and is commonly used in quickly verifying continuity and checking the validity of patch cables.
