Troy Cable selects ADTRAN for SmartBand BTOP middle mile project
Alabama’s Troy Cable has chosen ADTRAN, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADTN) to deliver carrier access and enterprise equipment for the cable operator’s SmartBand Project, according to the systems house. Troy Cable is using funding from the Broadband Technologies Opportunities Program (BTOP) to deploy a 595-mile fiber-optic middle-mile network across southeast Alabama to connect approximately 150 anchor institutions and 4,000 businesses.
ADTRAN says it will supply its Total Access 5000 Multi-Service Access Platform (MSAP), Total Access 900 series IP Business Gateways, and the NetVanta 7100 Unified Communications platform for the network which will be designed to provide up to 1 Gbps per customer. The systems vendor also will supply its Advanced Operational Environment (AOE) to offer service-oriented management for Troy Cable’s network.

ADTRAN asserts Troy Cable chose its equipment because of its high service density and network bandwidth support.
