Telco Systems provides carrier cloud gateway & aggregation platform

Telco Systems, a BATM company (LSE: BVC), says its new T-Metro 8000 carrier cloud gateway aggregation platform is the industry’s first open architecture, high-density Carrier Ethernet 2.0 cloud services Ethernet/MPLS switching platform. In addition to cloud services applications, the T-Metro 8000 will meet mobile backhaul and business service requirements as well, Telco Systems adds.

In fact, Telco Systems asserts the T-Metro 8000 offers the industry’s highest density service aggregation platform. It supports up to 1 Tbps of capacity in a 6RU chassis and up to 240 Gbps per line card.

Based on AdvancedTCA open architecture standards, the T-Metro 8000 has been designed to fulfill a variety of could service requirements, including security, resiliency, low latency, in-cloud load balancing, and service level agreement (SLA) monitoring. The platform leverages Telco Systems’ BiNOX operating system software to support Hierarchal QoS (HQoS), hardware-based wire-speed OAM, load balancing, VPLS/HVPLS, and Layer 2 VPN optimized capabilities.

The use of the AdvancedTCA architecture enables the system to accommodate blades from other vendors besides Telco Systems for maximum flexibility.

“As carriers move to cloud based services, telecom equipment vendors must increasingly focus on solving the networking aspects of carrier cloud connectivity -- lower cost per bit, dynamic bandwidth, and end user SLA requirements for secure access to cloud services,” says Erin Dunne from Vertical Systems. “The new T-Metro 8000 not only incorporates a robust feature set for MPLS/Ethernet and VPNs, (which are the fastest growing wireline data products for service providers worldwide), but also addresses the emerging demand for secure global access to cloud services.”

“Our carrier customers shared with us that their biggest concern is providing assured, secured end-to-end service with low latency and high scalability,” said Nir Daube, vice president, product management for Telco Systems. “T-Metro 8000 combines with EdgeGenie, our service management solution, as well as with our demarcation and aggregation switches, allowing our customers to build a cost-optimized scalable MPLS and Ethernet network. It utilizes unique service management which enables customers to focus on the services offered to their end-users, making them the cloud and business services provider of choice for any enterprise.”

Telco Systems reveals that several “major” carriers are testing the T-Metro 8000, which will be generally available in the third quarter of this year.
