Motorola Mobility adds workgroup terminal to passive optical LAN line
Motorola Mobility has added the WT24004 Workgroup Terminal to its line of passive optical LAN (POL) products. The WT24004 is intended to reduce network complexity by consolidating passive optical LAN connectivity in applications with a high concentration of end users and IP-enabled devices. These applications include wireless access points, security badge readers, and security cameras.
A passive optical LAN uses the same technology as the PON systems common in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) applications. But instead of services multiple homes, the passive optical LAN serves multiple work areas or even individual desktops.
Motorola’s WT24004 is a high-density rack-mounted modular workgroup terminal with up to 16 Gigabit Ethernet ports. It also supports power over Ethernet (PoE). The company sites the following benefits:
